The main objective of the new VULCOMATIC conveyor is that of grouping together 3 different processes on one conveyor :

A) ASSEMBLY

B) VULCANIZATION

C) FINISHING

This grouping offers the following advantages:

1 CONSIDERABLE SAVING OF LASTS USED:
470 pairs of lasts for producing 1500 pairs in 8 hours.

2 ACCELERATION OF THE PRODUCTION PROCESSES:
Total time for assembly and finishing rotation on upper level 48 minutes.
Time for vulcanization on lower level 38 minutes. By this way some possible mistakes of compound can be verified rapidly.

3 QUALITY IMPROVEMENT:
A) the elimination of manual movement in the trucks considerably reduces damages to the footwears.
B) assembly and finishing is carried out with timed rhitm making it possible to obtain a standard quality.
C) programmed temperatures and times for vulcanization, for glue drying for cooling the footwear before slipping the last, thus guaranteeing equal and automatic treatment of all the footwear produced.
D) Working with 2 trolleys blocked at the work place (one finished + one for processing), allows the operator to work in calmer and more flexible conditions.
E) besides boxing assembly can also be carried out with a normal toe lasting machine which it is considered gives better quality results.

4 ELIMINATION OF THE STAFF RESPONSIBLE FOR LOADING AND UNLOADING THE AUTOCLAVE FOR VULCANIZATION

5 ELIMINATION OF THE SPACE DESTINED FOR PACKING THE TRUCKS: both of the shoes awaiting vulcanization and the shoes already vulcanized which must be cooled before finishing takes place.

6 GREATER FLEXIBILITY OF WORK PROGRAMMING AND SAVING IN ENERGY: since it is possible to work the production lines with the autoclaves incorporated, according to the actual requirements of the moment, which could be extremely variable.
E.G.: if a 45-50 cubic meter autoclave presently in service has an output of 6000 pairs in 8 hours, the same production could be obtained on 4 VULCOMATIC lines each complete with a 5,5 cubic meter autoclave.
This means that with 4 autoclaves mounted on 4 conveyors it is possible to obtain a total volume of 22 cubic meters (compared to the 45-50 cubic meters), with a consequent saving in energy. Moreover if, for organizational reasons, it should be decided to produce less than 6000 pairs (which correspond to 100% of the 45-50 cubic meter autoclave output), for example 3000 pairs, the autoclave productivity would be decreased by 50% with a consequent 50% energy loss.
In the case of the VULCOMATIC both the output and the energy yield would remain at 100% since it would be possible to work with 2 plants instead of with 4.
To take another example: if the 45-50 cubic meter autoclave currently used should break down, the entire production (6000 pairs in 8 hours) would obviously be held up, while in the case of 4 VULCOMATIC lines, breakdowns would affect only 1/4 of the output, that is 1500 pairs in 8 hours.
